About Taahi

Staples, as they come from the plant.

The leaf growing out of the T is the idea: everyday Indian staples, protected rather than improved. This is how that works, in three short chapters.

01

What we saw in the market.

Polished toor. Glossy, one even yellow.
Taahi toor. Matte, uneven colour.

The dal that sells fastest in an open bin is the one that shines. So after hulling, many mills tumble it with water, oil or a fine powder until every grain is glossy and the same colour.

None of that changes what the dal is for. The polish is for the bin, not the pot. We wanted dal that looks the way it grew, with its outer layer still on, and a pack that tells you exactly what is inside.

02

What we do instead.

  1. Sourced

    Bought from Indian farms

Chosen from Indian mandis, one lot at a time.

  2. Cleaned

    Sieved and graded

Stones, husk and dust come out. Nothing goes on.

  3. Checked

    Checked for adulteration

    Before it reaches your kitchen.

  4. Packed

    Sealed in Rohtak

With the batch number and packing date printed on every pack.

Read the four rules of the Standard
